Infrared technology is considered as a very important key technology for the development of high performance sensors for defense, security and space applications. In addition to those traditional fields of applications, infrared sensors are rapidly emerging into new areas like medical diagnostics, gas analysis, spectroscopy as well as material processing and testing.

Scope of the workshop is to bring together scientists, engineers and users of infrared sensors. The workshop covers physics and material science of infrared detectors and lasers as well as device fabrication technology and system aspects.

The Infrared Colloquium in Freiburg has an over 40 years long standing tradition to discuss material related research work on infrared detectors and infrared lasers and their applications. The workshop started as a national workshop and is now organized as an bi-annual international colloquium.

The workshop language is English.
